Cardinal Uses YouTube to Spread Gospel

2/27/2007
. . .

Cardinal Justin Rigali, Archbishop of Philadelphia and CUF episcopal advisor, is taking a new step in using technology to spread the Gospel. This Lent, ZENIT News Agency reports, the Cardinal is "posting weekly Gospel commentaries on the video sharing Web site YouTube."

Cardinal Rigali posted his first video on Ash Wednesday. In "Living Lent: The First Sunday," he comments on the benefits of fasting, briefly reflects on the Sunday Scripture readings, and encourages viewers to join a Bible study group. At the time this CUF News item was posted, the video had been viewed nearly 10,000 times.

From Our Founder

How different the holy Church would be this very day if, years ago, we had been filled with a spirit of humility and compunction, of patience and ready obedience, with the spirit of the Publican, who stood afar off, not venturing to raise his eyes to heaven, but only saying, “God, be merciful to me a sinner” (Lk. 18:13).
