NOT "Catholics United"

An important clarification

We have received numerous questions lately as to Catholics United for the Faith's affiliation with a group bearing a similar name. Given the confusion that has arisen, we would like to issue a clarification.

Catholics United for the Faith (CUF) is not affiliated in any way with the group "Catholics United." Further, CUF does not endorse any political candidate.

"Catholics United" took up its name in 2005 (it was previously known as the "Catholic Voting Project"). CUF has been using its name ("Catholics United for the Faith") since its founding in 1968.

CUF's mission is to "support, defend, and advance the efforts of the teaching Church in accord with the teachings of the Second Vatican Council." For 40 years, CUF has been a leading voice of Catholic laity throughout the world, noted for its commitment to doctrinal orthodoxy, spiritual renewal, and unity in the faith.

In carrying out its mission, CUF provides and recommends resources to help Catholics form their consciences. They include:

CUF Resources
Member Services
Church Documents

From Our Founder

From time immemorial Catholic children have had the door opened to their first “sex lesson” by the holy words: “. . . and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.” And from time immemorial Catholic children have been given “Christian concepts on sex” through instructions on the Sixth and Ninth Commandments. Something completely and fundamentally different appears with detailed and explicit lessons provided in classroom sex education. Such lessons often include information scandalous to children. CUF does take a strict position in opposition to all such instructions in the classrooms.
